Man Impersonating Rockefeller Heir To Stand Trial

A German national who assumed several identities, including that of an heir to the Rockefeller fortune has been ordered to stand trial for murder.

Christian Gerhartsreiter, who has also gone by the names Clark Rockefeller, Chris Chichester and Christopher Crowe, appeared at a preliminary hearing in an Alahambra courtroom last week. Gerhartsreiter is being charged with the 25-year old murder of his landlady, Didi Sohus as well as the 1985 murders of her son John Sohus and his wife, Linda. Gerhartsreiter had been living in the guest house of their San Marino home at the time of their disappearance.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported that former police chief Gus Perea lived "next door to Chichester's landlady in the mid 80s" and participated in the second day of testimony. Arcadia Police Department lieutenant and former San Marino police officer Thomas Leveque was also among those to take the stand. Leveque took a 1985 missing person's report on a woman later found to be Linda Sohous' sister.
