What Do Bounty Hunters Do?
Posted on May 15, 2012 6:15am PDT
Simply stated, a bounty hunter enforces bail and assists with bail recovery.
Defendants who seek out the assistance of a San Gabriel Valley bail bondsman to get out of jail will still need to return to court. If they fail to appear when required the judge will revoke their bail and issue a bench warrant for their immediate arrest. The San Gabriel bail bonds company the defendant worked with will then be notified, and they will have six months to return them to police custody. If this does not happen, they, and the person who signed the bail bonds contract, will be required to pay the full amount of the person's original bail with the court.
In situations like this the bail bondsman will do everything they can to locate the defendant on their own, however, if they are unsuccessful, they may seek out the help of a bounty hunter/ bail recovery agent.
